Mint Tea
Mint tea is a drink for sharing. This preparation uses green tea, fresh mint, and a measured amount of sugar.
Ingredients
- 12 g green tea
- 25 g fresh mint
- 1000 ml water
- 60 g sugar
Preparation
Quickly rinse the mint leaves under cold water to remove any impurities, then drain them carefully. Make sure they are fresh and not wilted for optimal aroma. Heat the water in a kettle or saucepan until it simmers, just before full boiling, so as not to burn the tea.
Put the green tea in a heat-resistant teapot. Pour about 100 ml of the simmering hot water over the tea. Stir briefly for a few seconds, then immediately discard this rinsing water. This step is crucial to 'wash' the tea, remove bitterness, and open the leaves for better infusion.
Add the remaining 900 ml of water, the rinsed and drained fresh mint, and the sugar to the teapot. Let infuse for 3 to 5 minutes. The infusion time depends on the desired intensity: 3 minutes for a light tea, 5 minutes for a more pronounced taste. Avoid exceeding this time to prevent excessive bitterness.
To mix and aerate the tea well, pour a little tea into a glass, then carefully pour it back into the teapot. Repeat this gesture several times. This helps dissolve the sugar evenly and release the aromas. Be extremely vigilant with the hot liquid and never handle the teapot or glass at face height to avoid any risk of burns.
Filter the tea to remove the mint and green tea leaves. Serve immediately in six small glasses. The base of the recipe considers the 60 g of sugar as entirely consumed. The leaves are removed after infusion, no longer contributing to the final weight of the liquid. Enjoy hot and share this moment of conviviality.
