Steak Gatsby

Ingredients

  • 1 large long loaf of bread, 500 g
  • 500 g sliced beef steak
  • 600 g potatoes
  • 50 g oil, including 30 g for oven-baked fries
  • 150 g onion
  • 200 g tomato
  • 80 g lettuce
  • 6 g mild curry powder
  • 15 ml vinegar
  • 60 g ketchup-style tomato sauce
  • 3 g salt

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 220 °C. Cut the potatoes into fries, rinse, then dry thoroughly. Mix them with 30 g of oil and part of the salt; spread them out and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, turning halfway through cooking.

Slice the onion. Sauté in 10 g of oil until tender, then set aside. Wash and dry lettuce and tomatoes; cut them.

Season the steak with curry powder and the remaining salt. Heat the remaining 10 g of oil and sear the slices in small batches; adjust cooking to their thickness.

Let the meat rest for 5 minutes, then cut it into strips. Drizzle the fries with vinegar at the last moment if desired.

Open the large loaf of bread without completely separating the halves. Arrange lettuce, tomatoes, steak, onions, fries, and ketchup.

Close, hold without crushing, and cut into four portions. Serve immediately.
