Addas

🥣 Smooth red lentil, carrot and tomato soup with cumin and lime, four starter bowls.

Addas

Ingredients

  • 200 g dry red lentils
  • 100 g peeled finely diced carrot
  • 150 g washed diced tomato
  • 80 g peeled sliced onion
  • 1.2 litres drinking water plus a little if needed
  • 10 ml sunflower oil
  • 2 chopped garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 15 ml lime juice
  • Up to 2 g salt and pinch black pepper

Preparation

Sort and rinse lentils in a fine sieve. Prepare vegetables and measured water, oil and spices.

Heat 10 ml oil in saucepan, soften onion four minutes and carrot three. Stir garlic and cumin thirty seconds, add tomato and cook two minutes.

Add lentils and 1.2 litres water. Bring to boil, reduce and simmer twenty-five to thirty minutes, stirring bottom, until lentils break down and carrot is tender.

Add some salt and pepper; if thick before tender add small measured hot-water amounts and continue gently.

Off heat blend carefully with immersed hand-blender head until smooth. Adjust fluidity if needed.

Stir in lime, taste cooled spoonful, adjust seasoning and divide four starter bowls. No milk, meat stock or bread included.
