Zi limon — fresh lime drink
A chilled lime drink diluted to exactly one litre, with a measured amount of sugar.
Ingredients
- 120 ml freshly squeezed, strained lime juice
- 40 g granulated sugar
- Drinking water: 500 ml initially, then enough to reach exactly 1 litre of finished drink
- Drinking-water ice and thin washed lime slices, optional at serving and excluded from yield
Preparation
Wash and dry the limes before cutting. Squeeze, remove seeds and measure 120 ml juice; fruit count varies with size and juiciness.
Put juice and 40 g sugar into a clean jug. Stir with part of the initial 500 ml water until dissolved, then add the rest of those 500 ml.
Transfer to a measuring jug and top up with drinking water to exactly 1 litre total. Do not add another whole litre of water.
Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour. The drink is not pasteurized and must remain chilled.
Stir before serving and divide into four glasses of 250 ml before ice. Add ice only to individual glasses if desired; it does not count as another drink portion.
